Good for blues, rock, and jazz. It is not that great for metal though. the amp sounds a lot better than most amps in its size and price range. It is not too noisy but gets fuzzy at higher volumes.

It takes 54 watts of wall plug power in order to produce 15 watts of sonic output power The Vox Pathfinder 15 is a small solid state 1x8" 15 watt combo amp that was introduced by Vox in 1999. It has all the Vox cosmetics right, including gold string in the cabinet sides, top, and bottom. Later Vox models in the low to mid price range would drop this cosmetic touch.

Although solid state, this amp has an amazing tube like tone. In addition to Gain, Volume, Treble, and Bass Controls, the P15 also includes Tremolo. A Boost switch dramatically increases gain and overdrive.    An 8" special design Vox speaker is mounted inside the open backed cabinet. An optional Vox VFS2 foot switch was used to control the tremolo. The V9168 Pathfinder amp was replaced by the Pathfinder 15R with reverb in 2002.

Black Vox grill cloth was used on the Pathfinder 15R from 2002 through 2008, but a change made was by the factory to brown Vox grill cloth in mid 2008
